Delete account and data

Deleting in the app

1. Open Lingonyx and go to Settings.
2. Open the Account section.
3. At the very bottom tap Delete account.
4. Confirm the prompt with Yes, delete account.

After that you are signed out. The account and everything belonging to it on the server has already been removed at that point. There is no waiting period and no way back.

Deleting without the app

If you no longer have the app installed or cannot sign in any more, write us a mail to support@lingonyx.com with the subject Delete account. If possible send it from the email address the account was created with; otherwise we need other proof, so that nobody can have someone else's account deleted.

We delete within two working days, at the latest within 30 days, and confirm it by mail.

What is deleted

• the account itself, meaning email address, encrypted password and the link with Google or Apple
• the profile with display name and chosen source language
• the learning progress of all courses backed up on the server, including timestamps and device label

None of this is kept for a later restore. From technical backup copies of the database the data disappears as soon as those are overwritten in the regular cycle, at the latest after 30 days.

What stays on the device

The local learning state in the app is kept so that you can carry on learning without an account. If that should go as well, there are two ways:

• in the app under Settings, Reset progress
• uninstall the app

Both take effect immediately and without a request to us, because this data never left the device.

Provisional accounts

An account from Start right away has no sign-in details. It is deleted by itself: without a learning state after 30 days, with a learning state after one year without use. Anyone who wants to clean up sooner takes the way through the app.
